Chosen in 2013 as the cover for a catalog for Diaspora, a national juried exhibition presented by the Jewish Women’s Art Network/Women’s Caucus for Art at New Century Gallery, New York, NY, the collage Disentangled 2 manifests Mother Nature unleashing her unrelenting fury. Photographs transform into floating cutouts; familiar faces and places are no longer recognizable. A random selection of images imparts both personal and political destruction, separation and despair. Unpredictable circumstances such as fires, hurricanes or Tsunami floods question the fatalist, “Where is God’s presence?” A companion work, Disentangled 1, was also part of the New Century Gallery exhibition and its catalog.
